Marie Catherine Enright Nordling, 88, of South Amboy passed away peacefully on Tuesday January 18, 2022 at Roosevelt Care Center, Edison. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania she was employed as a Registered Nurse at South Amboy Memorial Hospital. A graduate of St. Mary’s School of Nursing, Philadelphia she served as the class president. A U.S. Navy veteran, she was a member of St. Mary’s R.C. Church, South Amboy, loved the simple things in life like helping people and was an avid fan of the New York Mets. After retiring she served as an advocate for the hard of hearing and helped organize several Walks for Hearing events.
Daughter of the late William and Margaret Ruth Hess Enright she is also predeceased by her loving husband Robert F. Nordling, Sr. in 1992; her son Eric J. Nordling and her sister and brother-in-law Agatha Ruth and Sir Stanley Wojtusik. She is survived by her children Michael Nordling; Robert F. Nordling, Jr. and his wife Judy Walengewicz Nordling and their children Genna and Amelia Nordling; Dr. Mary K. Christie Nordling and her husband Michael Christie and their children Mia and Desmond Christie; William V. Nordling, Sr. and his wife Nancy Atkinson Nordling and their children William V., Jr. and Derek Nordling and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday January 22, 2022 at 10:15am from The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals” 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy followed by an 11am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church. Entombment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will be on Saturday morning only from 9 to 10:15am. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Mary’s Church or the Hearing Loss Association of New Jersey, hearingloss-nj.org.
