Marion “Maz” Cottrell Bednar Buckalew, 89, of South Amboy died on Sunday August 8, 2021 at Complete Care at Madison Center, Matawan surrounded by her family. Born and raised in Melrose she lived in South Amboy before settling in Morgan. Before retiring she was employed by Raritan Bay Mental Health Center, Perth Amboy and previously by Charles E. Komar & Son, South Amboy. A member of Trinity United Methodist Church she was a member of the Women’s Group. She enjoyed watching Golden Girls with her sisters and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Daughter of the late Clarence and Myrtle Hansel Cottrell she is also predeceased by her sisters Ann Falls, Jane Arboreen, Edna Deliman, Florence Hisey Mytenger and Grace Parisen; her brother Clarence Cottrell; her grandsons Michael Holovacko and Garry Wolf and her son-in-law Harry Macholl. She is survived by her daughters Denise Macholl, Sandra Holovacko and her husband Tom, Angela Holovacko and her husband Mike, Jacqueline Braun and her husband Donald and Marie Bouthillette and her husband Bob; her son John Buckalew and his girlfriend Sophia; her sister Rita Weissenburger and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday August 12, 2021 at 10am at The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals” 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy followed by interment in Christ Church Cemetery, South Amboy. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4 to 7pm. Please note that masks are required inside the funeral home at the request of the family. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Women’s Group at Trinity United Methodist Church, 815 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy, NJ 08879.
