Mary Chance Vreeland Obituary

Mary Chance Vreeland, 60, of East Brunswick died on Monday February 9, 2026 at home. Born in Staten Island she was previously employed by Helfrich, Hazlet before becoming a well-known employee at Kathy’s Deli (formerly Carmen’s). She enjoyed trips to Atlantic City and playing Bingo and was an avid fan of the New York Jets and Donald Trump. She was known in the family as a problem solver and was a second mother to many bonus children.

Daughter of the late William J., Sr. and Jean M. DeBiase Chance she is also predeceased by her brother William J. Chance, Jr. in 2017. She is survived by her husband of 42 years Robert Vreeland; her son Robert Vreeland and his partner Lindsey Hoker; her daughters Nicole Vreeland and her partner Steven Lindsey and Alyssa Colbert and her husband David; her brothers Doug Chance and his wife Diana, Kenneth Chance and his wife Laura and Ralph Chance; her sister Holly McDonald and her husband John; her grandchildren Hunnie and Harmony Vreeland; her nieces Lucia and Kayla Chance and Sandra Fitzgerald; her nephews Doug and Nick Chance and her great-nephews William, Asher and Dawson.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday February 15, 2026 from 2 to 6pm at the Keyport Matawan Elks Lodge, 249 Broadway, Keyport, NJ 07735. Cremation was private under the direction of The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals” 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy.
