Mary Anne (Shunk) Morder, 70, of Cream Ridge, NJ passed away on Friday, November 21, 2025, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune. To all who knew her, Mary Anne was the heart of her family—a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a proud, joy-filled grandmother. Her greatest happiness came from caring for the people she loved.
For 49 beautiful years, she shared her life with her husband, Bob. Their marriage was a true partnership, filled with support and laughter. She championed everything he loved, especially his music, always standing by his side and willing to step in to play the keyboard from time to time.
As a mother, Mary Anne poured her whole heart into raising her boys. She celebrated every passion they embraced— rooting for their favorite teams or sharing in the excitement of NASCAR races. When she became “Gram” to Maggie, her love only grew deeper. She and Maggie created countless cherished memories together, playing games, laughing endlessly, and sharing a bond that was pure joy.
Mary Anne brought her enthusiasm for life into everything she loved — especially her favorite teams, music, and her dogs throughout the years. She was a proud supporter of Penn State football and volleyball, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Huntingdon Bearcats Football Team. Her love of music filled many car rides, often accompanied by Bruno Mars or Justin Timberlake singing through the speakers.
Born and raised in Huntingdon, PA, Mary Anne carried her hometown close to her heart. She worked at SCI-Smithfield as a unit manager and counselor for 20 years. During this time, she was well respected by all at the prison and made a lasting impression as a true professional who believed in fairness and compassion for those she supported. After her retirement, she was employed as a house mom at the Greir School, where she was truly a "mom" to many. Last year, she and Bob moved to New Jersey to be nearer to their family—a reflection of the love that guided her throughout her life.
Mary Anne will be remembered for her kindness, her warmth, her laughter, and the deep, steady love she gave so freely. Her presence was a blessing, and her memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
Daughter of the late Frank and Pauline Shinn Shunk, Mary Anne is also predeceased by her son, Jason Morder and her brother-in-law, John Galbraith. She is survived by her husband, Robert Morder; her son and daughter-in-law, Bradley and Alisyn Morder; her sister, Joann Galbraith Branthaver and her granddaughter, Maggie.
Cremation was private under the direction of The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals” 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy.
