Michael Facendo

Michael M. Facendo age 87, of South Amboy passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at HMH Old Bridge Medical Center.

Born and raised in Perth Amboy, he moved to South Amboy in 1966 where he resided with his loving wife Dorothy of 52 years and their children. He was a member of Holy Rosary Church of Perth Amboy, NJ. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by General Motors-Hyatt Bearing for 29 years. He was a highly skilled craftsman who loved to help his family and friends with home improvements and projects. His generosity and positive outlook on life were felt by all who knew him. He was truly loved and respected by everyone. He greeted everyone with his beautiful smile and his contagious laugh. Mike and his wife Dottie will always be remembered by family and friends for their unforgettable annual New Year’s Eve and 4th of July parties and Bocce Ball games. Everyone was accepted and welcomed with no judgment.

He especially enjoyed playing the lottery, buying scratch-off tickets and going out to dinner with his family and friends. Above all he was a loving and dedicated husband,father, and the best PopPop in the world to his grandchildren who brought him much joy and love throughout his life.

Michael is the son of the late Michael and Josephine (Fimiani) Facendo he is also predeceased by his wife Dorothy (Ruskai) Facendo in 2014; his brothers Matt and Joey Facendo; his sisters Renee Kendzia, Dolores Abramick, Landa Tkacs and Toni Facendo.

He is survived by his sons Michael Facendo and his wife Jeanne of Freehold, NJ and Anthony Facendo of South Amboy, NJ and his daughter Michele Facendo of Sayreville, NJ; his sisters Funzy Leonard of South Amboy, NJ and Sr. Rosemarie Facendo, M.P.F of Morristown, NJ and his grandchildren Courtney and Nicholas Facendo of Freehold, NJ. Along with many nephews, nieces and friends.

Visitation will be on Monday, June 5, 2023 from 3pm-7pm at The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals” 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy, NJ 08879

Funeral services will be on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at 9am from The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals” followed by a 10 am Mass of Christian Burial at Good Shepherd Parish/Holy Rosary Church 625 Florida Grove Rd., Perth Amboy, NJ. Interment will be at St. James Cemetery, Woodbridge, NJ. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
