Mikolaj Jakub Modzelewski

Mikolaj Modzelewski, 42, of South Amboy, NJ, passed away suddenly on August 24th, 2023. He was born in Olsztyn, Poland on October 29th, 1980. He attended Elementary and High school there, from which he graduated in 1999. Mikolaj then immigrated to the United States during Winter of 2001 and resided with his aunt, Krystyna Popielarczyk and uncle, Stanislaw Popielarczyk. Mikolaj was an exceptional Carpenter in New York City. He traveled there daily and was determined to prioritize the needs of others before himself. He enjoyed spending his free time playing piano, listening to music and reading.

He was predeceased by his loving mother, Janina Modzelewski, and father, Janusz Modzelewski. He is survived and loved by his aunt Krystyna Popielarczyk, his uncle Stanislaw Popielarczyk, his cousin Slawomir Popielarczyk (and his wife Agnieszka), his goddaughter Samantha Popielarczyk, and her sisters, Paula and Kelly, and the rest of his beloved family in the United States and in Poland.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday September 1, 2023 at 10am at Sacred Heart Church, 531 Washington Avenue, South Amboy. Cremation will be private. Visitation will be on Friday morning only from 8:30 to 9:30am at The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals” 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy.
