Norbert Ratajczak Obituary

Norbert William Ratajczak, 79, of South Amboy passed peacefully on March 9, 2021 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge surrounded by family. Born in Perth Amboy, Norbert lived in South Amboy the past 35 years.

Norbert spent his career as a high-rise window washer, family mechanic, local handyman, and unofficial “mayor” of local neighborhood.  He enjoyed Horseshoes, fishing and crabbing, cooking on the grill, the Cowboys, storytelling, scratch offs, and a “tall cold one”.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Ratajczak; his daughter Lori and her husband Donald Roberts of Parlin, daughter Laura and her husband Michael Guynup of New York, son Norbert Jr and partner Sherry of Missouri, stepson Thomas Hessner of South Amboy, stepdaughter Debbie Irwin and her husband Timothy of South Amboy, Granddaughters: Rosemarie and her fiancé Brian, Kimberly and her partner Thomas, Gillian, Lisamarie, and Kayla. Grandsons: Robert and his wife Lenka, Cameron and his spouse Dustin, and Robert. Great Grandchildren: Dominick, Brian, Jameson, Liliana, Christian, Xavior, Ethan, and Colten. Predeceased by brother Allen and sister Delores, and survived by brothers: Donald, William, and Lawrence, and sisters: Audrey, Beverly and Nancy. Many Nieces and Nephews and “Poppy” to so many loved ones.

In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude children’s hospital would be greatly appreciated. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
