Raquel Negroni Montanez

Raquel Negroni Montanez, 81, of South Amboy died on Sunday January 24, 2021 at home. Born in Ensenada, Puerto Rico, she was raised in the Bronx, then moved to New Jersey in 1976, retired to Puerto Rico, and eventually moved back to New Jersey.  She had a great sense of humor and helped everyone that she could. She liked to do crossword puzzles, loved to cook and go for walks and loved to travel.

Daughter of the late Francisco and Esther Luz Nazario Negroni she is survived by her husband of 63 years Jose A. Montanez; her children Brenda Powell and her husband Russell J., Jr., Raquel Aponte and her husband Gerry Javier Montanez and his wife Shelly R and Wanda Montanez; her grandchildren Luis A. Montanez, Diamond St. J. Melendez, Gerry J. Aponte, Amanda R. Luisi and her husband Justin,  Marissa Abatemarco and her husband Alberto, David Moriarty and his wife jennifer, Jacob Montanez, Joshua Montanez, great grandchildren, Mia Z. Montanez, Elias A. Montanez, Jesse Luisi and Evangeline A. Abatemarco.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday January 27, 2021 at 5pm at The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals” 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy. Cremation will be private. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 3 to 6pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The American Cancer Society.
