Richard Bernard Mullins, Sr., 48, of Princeton died on Sunday July 19, 2026 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick.

Richard was the beloved husband of Tasha Mullins, with whom he shared a life filled with love, partnership, and cherished memories. His wife and children were the center of his world, and nothing brought him greater joy than being with his family. He was a proud and devoted father to Tasheema Mullins, Niell Mullins, Richard Mullins Jr., and Ryzel Mullins, who were his greatest pride. He was also a loving grandfather to Oliver Sims Franklin, whose smile brought him endless happiness and reminded him of life’s greatest blessings.

He was the cherished son of Bessie Mae Mullins and Charles Sims Mullins Sr. Richard is survived by his beloved brothers and sister, Andrew Mullins, Charles Mullins, and Courtney Mullins, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Tony Mullins and Jason Mullins.

Richard believed in the value of hard work and perseverance. After completing his education, he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Culinary Arts, turning his passion for cooking into a lifelong gift. He had an incredible talent in the kitchen and found genuine joy in preparing meals for family and friends. Whether it was a holiday feast, a backyard cookout, or a simple family dinner, Richard showed his love through food. He believed the best memories were often made around the dinner table, where laughter, stories, and great meals brought everyone together.

He also found peace in gardening, taking pride in growing vegetables and caring for his plants with patience and dedication. Watching his garden flourish brought him as much happiness as seeing his family gathered together. When he wasn’t cooking or gardening, Richard loved fishing and the tranquility of the water. Those quiet moments outdoors were where he felt most at peace.

Richard will be remembered for his kind heart, gentle spirit, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to those he loved. He found joy in life’s simple blessings—a meal shared with family, time spent in his garden, a peaceful day on the water, and the love of those closest to him.

Though he will be deeply missed, Richard’s love, wisdom, and the memories he created will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends. His legacy is one of love, generosity, and a life well lived.

Cremation was private. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday July 29, 2026 from 11am to 12 noon at The Gundrum Service "Home For Funerals" 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy.
