Richard J. Peterson

Richard J. Peterson, 71, of South Amboy died on Saturday November 17, 2018 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. Born in South Amboy he lived there most of his life. His extended knowledge of mechanics and construction, which he shared so generously, will be missed by many family and friends.

Son of the late Andrew M., Sr. and Jean Lockhart Peterson he is also predeceased by his brothers Oliver “Jerry”, Andrew and Scott and his sister-in-law Caryn. He is survived by his children Cindy Dougherty of Florida, Cara Peterson of Florida and Richard Peterson, Jr. of Old Bridge; his brother Walter Peterson and his wife Anne, their children Walter Peterson, Jr. and his wife Heather, Jonathan Peterson and Kimberly Gundrum and her husband George; his sister-in-law Nancy Peterson and her children Kristie Corodemus and her husband Demetrius and Mark; his niece Danielle Peterson and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday November 24, 2018 at 10am at The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals” 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy followed by interment in Christ Church Cemetery, South Amboy. Visitation will be on Friday from 4 to 8pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Legion Post 62, 111 David Street, South Amboy, NJ 08879.
