Robert “Bob” Banko, 70, passed away peacefully on Friday January 2, 2026 at Embrace Hospice House of South Carolina in Myrtle Beach. He was born on April 24, 1955 in Perth Amboy, New Jersey to the late Steve & Catherine “Kay” Banko.
Along with his parents, Bob is reunited in passing with his sister, Susan M. Banko Lindh.
When he was younger, Bob worked as a mechanic at Co Steel Raritan as a skilled mobile maintenance mechanic from 1985-2000, until he found his love for selling homes. Bob began his Real Estate career in the early 2000’s and worked diligently all the way up until his retirement to South Carolina- about 8 years ago. He was an avid bowler and golfer all his life but really enjoyed sporting with friends in his retired years. Bob tried to golf as much as possible, specially making time for his adoring brother, David. Always one to stay active in his community, Bob was a member of St. Andrew Knights of Columbus, #5088 of New Jersey and was an active member of the Moose Lodge both Myrtle Beach & Murrells Inlet. Above all else, Bob loved his family with his whole heart. He truly relished being a devoted “Pop-Pop” to his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed.
Left to cherish Bob’s memory are his adoring daughter, Alyson Pinto and husband, Daniel of South Amboy, and sons, Christopher Banko and wife, Amy of S. Plainfield, NJ, & Matthew Banko of Sayreville, NJ; their mother and Bob’s former wife, Janet Dubay of Sayreville, NJ; the apple of his eye, his grandchildren, Zachary & Gemma of South Amboy, NJ and also Ethan Banko, of S. Plainfield, NJ; siblings, Stephen Banko (Terry), Kathy Federchak (Steve), David Banko (Tami) & MaryEllen Banko; brother in-law, David Lindh; as well as several nieces, nephews, godchildren and cousins; a large, loving, extended family and many supportive friends and neighbors.
