Robert G. Matthews, Jr.

Robert G. Matthews, Jr., 43, of South Amboy died on Sunday August 16, 2020 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Perth Amboy . Born in South Amboy he lived there all his life. A U.S. Air Force veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom he was previously employed as a lineman for Verizon. An avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Mets, he was a huge Star Wars fan and enjoyed watching the WWE.

Son of the late Robert G. Matthews, Sr., he is survived by his mother Betty Christine Matthews; his sister Dawn Matthews-Gorczyca and her husband Kevin; his uncles William Christine, Edward Christine and his wife Susan, Albert Christine and Thomas Christine; his aunts Elvera Tidwell and Eloise Tremel and her husband William; his nephew Kevin “KJ” Gorczyca; his niece Sabrina Leff; his cousins Jennifer and Stephanie Tidwell, Curtis Michael, William Christine, Jean Marie O’Leary, Joseph Tremel, Deborah Tremel, Nicole and Jimmy Christine and his favorite cousin Melissa “Missy” White.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, August 19, 2020 from 5pm to 7pm at The Gundrum Service "Home For Funerals" 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy. Cremation will be private.
