Roger L. Nelson

Roger L. Nelson, 74, of Parlin died on Tuesday April 27, 2021 at home. Born in South Amboy he lived in Parlin for over 40 years. Before retiring he was employed by Verizon, Freehold. A lifelong member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Sayreville he enjoyed bowling.

Son of the late Lester and Karen Evelyn Samuelson Nelson he is also predeceased by his granddaughter Kayla and his son-in-law Paul Mathisen. He is survived by his wife of 52 years Sherry Schmidt Nelson; his daughter Tracy Mathisen; his son Eric Nelson and his wife Jennifer; his grandchildren Ronald, Kendall, Samantha and Kacey and his great-grandchildren Jaxson and Jaelyn.

Funeral services will be held on Friday April 30, 2021 at 10am at Trinity United Methodist Church, 815 Bordentown Avenue. Cremation will be private. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4 to 6pm at The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals” 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church.
