Rosemary Lee Lagoda Zera

Rosemary Lee Lagoda Zera, 81, of South Amboy died on Friday, March 21, 2025 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge. 

Born in South Amboy, she resided in South Amboy or Sayreville her whole life. She was previously employed by the South Amboy Board of Education and Woodbridge Board of Education as a Media Specialist. Rosemary served on the Sayreville Rent Leveling Board, the Dowdell Library Board and served as the alternate on the Dowdell Library Board for the South Amboy Public Schools Superintendent. She was a member of several women’s clubs over the years where she met lifelong friends. She was a member of Sacred Heart R.C. Church, South Amboy.

Rosemary was an avid reader, instilling the importance of reading and education to all of “Aunt Roe’s Kids”. Her love of golf and the beach just added to her favorites of reading, restaurants and relaxation. 

Daughter of the late Edmund and Mary Urbanik Lagoda, she is predeceased by her husband Robert A. Zera. She is survived by her sister Patricia A. Rock and her husband Robert J.; her loving niece Amy Rock and her fiancé Joseph E. Maratta; her brother-in-law Raymond Zera and his wife Joan; her Fitzsimmons family, nieces and nephews, and many cousins and best friends.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday March 27, 2025 at 9:15am from The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals” 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy,followed by a 10am Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart R.C. Church. Entombment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Parlin. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4 to 8pm.
