Steven G. Kay, a proud United States Navy veteran, passed away on June 24, 2025, at the age of 74. Born in New York, New York to Regina Hand and William Kay, he served his country with honor and dedication during both the Vietnam War and the Gulf War.
Over the course of his distinguished military career, Steven rose to the rank of E7 and served as an Afloat Safety Manager, ensuring the safety and well-being of his fellow sailors aboard naval vessels. His commitment to excellence and his deep sense of responsibility left a lasting impact on those he served with.
After retiring from the Navy, Steven devoted his life to his family, finding great joy in spending time with his children and grandchildren. He showed his love in his own unmistakable way—most often by yelling at us. Behind every bark was care, and beneath every gruff word was a deep and loyal heart.
He found peace by the water, casting a line while fishing under the sun, and above all, he cherished his dogs—his loyal companions who brought him constant comfort and happiness.
Steven will be remembered for his strength, sarcasm, and unwavering devotion to family. His legacy lives on in all those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his only son, Manuel Kay, and five daughters: Gina Casey, Gema Kay, Stephanie Garcia, Josephina Kay, and Rosemary Kay. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren: Catherine, Alexandra, Sophia, Gabriella, Serena, Marc, Alyssa, Stephanie, Manuel II, Valerie, Tatiana, Bella, Athena, Pablo, Joseph, Alyure, Emmanuel, Scott, Vincent, and great grandchildren Adriel, Zoey, Khloé, Javier, Atilana—and a baby on the way.
Steven is also survived by his brothers, William and James Kay, and his sister, Regina.
