Teresa M. Gallagher O'Connor

Teresa M. Gallagher O'Connor, 96, of South Amboy passed away on Thursday June 26, 2025 at home surrounded by her loving family.

Teresa (Terry) was born in Phillipsburg, NJ and was a graduate of St. Phillip and St. James High School. Before retiring Terry was an office manager for the Rockford Furniture Company in Woodbridge for many years. Terry was a world traveler, visiting all 50 states and 19 countries with either her late husband Bernard O'Connor, who passed in 1993, or one of her children. She was a wonderful mother and great friend to her children and grandchildren. She was very witty with a great sense of humor and lots of fun to be around. She was also very proud of her Irish and American heritage. Always the go-to person if you needed help with a problem of any kind, her loyalty and generosity had no boundaries. Terry loved to read and would always write down great quotes or poems that she found meaningful and down to earth. We are fortunate enough to have many of those handwritten books to cherish in the future. We would always joke that when Mom did a crossword puzzle, she used a pen!

An avid lover of music, which she passed on to her children, it was very common to walk into her house and hear a wide variety of songs playing from country to Bob Dylan and Kris Kristofferson. She loved deep thinkers and songs that told some kind of life story. She will be missed more than words can say. We are all heartbroken.

Fighting unbearable breast cancer for the last three years of her life, she was a trooper and always kept her faith. Terry leaves behind (which she always referred to as her priorities) three loving sons Bernard, Kevin and Brian and daughter Jill, along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

We have all been extremely fortunate to love and be loved by this wonderful woman for all these years. Rest in peace Mom.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday July 1, 2025 at 10:15am from The Gundrum Service "Home For Funerals" 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy followed by an 11am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church, South Amboy. Interment will be in New Calvary Cemetery, Parlin. Visitation will be on Monday from 4 to 8pm.
