Theresa M. Bringhurst Klimchak

Theresa M. Bringhurst Klimchak, 95, of South Amboy died on Wednesday November 8, 2023 at home. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, at 7 years old, she and her 2 brothers moved to South Amboy with the help of Governor Hoffman where she was raised by her Aunt Liz Campbell. Theresa graduated from St. Mary’s Elementary and High Schools and enjoyed meeting with her Class of 1946 classmates at reunions and for lunch once a month. She worked at General Cable Corp. in Perth Amboy where she met the love of her life, Mike, and they were married in St. Mary’s Church in 1954, where they were both lifelong members. Theresa loved children and worked for many years at St. Mary Elementary School’s latchkey program, until its closure in 2007 and she was 80 years old, where she was fondly known as “Miss Theresa”.

More recently, Theresa discovered her love of flying and took many trips to Florida for the holidays and throughout the year. She was also a volunteer for many years at Mount St. Mary’s Christmas Bazaar in Watchung.

Theresa was deeply devoted to her family. She was lovingly referred to as “Nanny” by her 6 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Daughter of the late John and Mary “Mae” Charlton Bringhurst she is also predeceased by her husband Michael Klimchak in 1996. She is survived by her son Michael F. Klimchak; her daughter Elizabeth Kaskiw; her grandchildren Michael C. Klimchak, Bryan Klimchak and his wife Erin, Matthew Klimchak and his wife Danielle, Scott Klimchak and his wife Gina, Jennifer Kaskiw and Joanna Espaillat and her husband Frank and her great-grandchildren Tessa, Nora, Cooper, Evelyn, Vivian, Scotty and Navy.

Funeral services and interment in Christ Church Cemetery, South Amboy were private under the direction of The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals” 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to McAuley Hall Healthcare Center, 1633 US-22, Watchung, NJ 07069.
