Thomas Butler, 71, of South Amboy died on Sunday September 3, 2023 at Roosevelt Care Center, Old Bridge. Born in New Brunswick he lived in Sayreville his entire life before moving to South Amboy in 2017. Before retiring in 2016 he was employed by the Borough of Sayreville. An avid NASCAR fan he enjoyed trips to Wall Stadium and spending time at the South Amboy boat ramp.
Son of the late Gerald A. and Eileen Coakley Butler he is also predeceased by his infant brother Shaun Butler and his sisters-in-law Pamela and Karen Butler. He is survived by his brothers Gerald S. Butler, Kevin J. Butler and Joseph K. Butler and his wife Christine; his sister Kathleen Verno and her husband Julio and 14 nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday September 8, 2023 at 10am at The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals” 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy followed by interment in New Calvary Cemetery, Parlin. Visitation will be on Thursday from 3 to 7pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Rutgers Cancer Institute.
