William J. Chance, Sr., 90, of Sayreville died on Thursday December 26, 2024 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Perth Amboy. Born in Staten Island he moved to Sayreville in 1965. A veteran of the U.S. Navy he was employed as a conductor for the MTA in Staten Island. He was a member of Sacred Heart R.C. Church, South Amboy. Bill was a member of the N.R.A. and was a passionate outdoors man. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and sports and was an avid fan of the NY Mets and the NY Jets.
Son of the late Wilbur and Louise Schuhsler Chance he is also predeceased by his wife Jean M. DeBiase Chance in 2018, his son William J. Chance, Jr. in 2017, and his brothers Frank, Paul and Alfred. He is survived by his sons Doug Chance and his wife Diana and Ken and Ralph Chance; his daughters Holly McDonald and her husband John and Mary Vreeland and her husband Robert; his grandchildren Sandra, Robert, Nicole, Alyssa, Douglas, Nicholas, Lucia and Kayla, his great-grandchildren Hunnie, Harmony and William John; his sister Terri McIntyre, cousins and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday January 2, 2025 at 6:30pm at The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals” 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy. Cremation will be private. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4 to 7pm.
