William "Jim" Gray Obituary

William “Jim” Gray, 85, of South Amboy died on Thursday July 19, 2018 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, Somerset. Born in Jersey City he lived in South Amboy since 1938. A 1952 graduate of Perth Amboy Vocational and Technical School he worked for PSE&G in Perth Amboy and Cranford before retiring in 1986. A U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War he was a member and usher at St. Mary’s R.C. Church, South Amboy. He served on the South Amboy Police Reserve and the South Amboy First Aid Squad. He also was the manager of South Amboy Little League and belonged to the Perth Amboy Elks Lodge 784, serving 3 times as Past Exalted Ruler.

Son of the late James E. and Marie Eleanor Brown Gray he is also predeceased by his wife Rose Marie Figel Gray in 2008. He is survived by his son Stephen J. Gray; his daughter and son-in-law Mary E. and Eduardo Soto; his brother Richard P. Gray; his sister Barbara Anna Gray; his grandchildren Krystal, Nicole and her husband Anthony, Samantha and her husband Danny, Katie and her husband Jamaar and Matthew and his great grandchildren Hunter, Cadence, Kaylee, Alivia, Anthony and Gracie.

Funeral services are private under the direction of The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals” 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the South Amboy First Aid Squad, PO Box 328, South Amboy, NJ 08879.
