Patrick L. McCarthy, 70, of South Amboy died on April 16, 2022 at home. Born in South Amboy he lived there all his life. A U.S. Navy veteran he was a member of Enterprise Fire Company, South Amboy. He was employed as a dispatcher at Middlesex County College, Edison from which he retired and also by The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals”. When he wasn’t working you could find “The Crazy Irishman” at many different flea markets, toy, antique and car shows.
Son of the late Francis P. and Jennie McLaughlin McCarthy he is also predeceased by his brothers Thomas, Harold and Kevin McCarthy; his sisters Frances Lasso and his twin Eileen McCarthy and his nephews Gary and Kyle McCarthy. He is survived by his wife of 43 years Elizabeth Peters McCarthy; his daughter Jennifer Falchek; the love of his life his grandson Jackson Falchek; his sisters-in-law Cathy and Ann McCarthy and Sue Olsen; his brothers-in-law Guy and Daniel Peters and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday April 20, 2022 at 6:30pm at The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals” 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy. Cremation will be private. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4 to 7pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to New Jersey Veterans Network, 10 Ward Place, East Hanover, NJ 07936 or www.njvn.org.
