George Stramback, 98, of South Amboy died on Thursday May 4, 2017 at Regency Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Hazlet. Born in Rahway, he was raised in Perth Amboy and moved to South Amboy in 1943. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Before retiring in 1981 he was employed by U.S. Metals, Carteret, Hercules, Inc., Parlin and East Brunswick Vo-Tech High School. He was a member of St. Mary’s R.C. Church, South Amboy and IBEW Local 102. He proudly held a patent for making train pullman brakes quieter. An extensive traveler, he made 144 trips around the country.

Son of the late Stephen and Sophia Lasko Stramback he is also predeceased by his wife Margaret Mary Banfield Stramback in 2010, his brothers Stephen and Michael Stramback; his sister Anna Sykora and his grandson Stephen Michael Stramback. He is survived by his sons George Stramback and his wife Sandra of Morgan Hill, California and Ronald Stramback of South Amboy; his daughters Pat Trenta of Lincoln, California and Colleen Wagner and her husband Wayne of Middletown; his grandchildren Jennifer Burch and her husband Joe of Morgan Hill, California, Gregory Stramback and his wife Racquel of Hayward, California, Rebecca Storch and her husband Chad of Pace, Florida, Jeff Stramback and his wife Elizabeth of Granite Bay, California, Brad Weight and his wife Alex of Gilroy, California, Matthew Hager and his wife Katy of Galt, California, Brett Hager and his wife Melissa of Woodland, California, Corey, Justin, Casey and Brandon Wagner all of Middletown and his great-grandchildren Joseph, Tyler, Sarah, Blake, Andy, Hailey, Bennett, Annie, Harper, Nathan, Natalie and Nicholas.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday May 9, 2017 at 8:45am from The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals” 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy followed by a 9:30am Mass of Christian Burial at St Mary’s Church, South Amboy. Interment will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Parlin. Visitation will be on Monday from 4 to 8pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Salvation Army.
